About the cosplay events of this year

This year, we are going to organize cosplay events catering mainly to residents in Japan.

As a general rule, participation is open to residents in Japan and persons that have cleared the period of observation after entrance to Japan determined by the government.

* A participation ticket is required to participate in the events.

Considering the situation of the spread of the novel coronavirus pandemic, we are going to celebrate the “World Cosplay Championship”, in which the best cosplayers of the world are chosen, with the new special format of “World Cosplay Championship Video Division”, in which the winners will be exceptionally determined in an online video format.

We are going to stream the World Cosplay Championship and all the other events on the stage, so please join us and watch the events online!

The representative cosplayers from all around the world will not be coming to Japan, but we request your kind understanding, as we are looking forward to the celebration of the regular event with the presence of the international representatives in Japan in 2022.

The dates are the 7th (Sat) and 8th (Sun) of August 2021!
As a real event and online as well. For the WCS of a new era!

The “World Cosplay Summit 2021”, the 19th edition of the largest cosplay festival in the world, will take place on the 7th (Sat) and 8th (Sun) of August 2021. It will consist of the real cosplay events centered in the Oasis 21 venue in Sakae, Nagoya, as well as of the online “World Cosplay Championship Video Division”, that will spread the fun from Nagoya all around the world. These events will be streamed live to the entire world. Please join us!

It is possible to process the payment and the receipt of tickets with different methods. Please refer to the official website of Rakuten Ticket for details.
* After completing the purchase, the issuing and receipt of tickets will be possible since 21 July.

* All the participation tickets include original goods of the WCS (proof of participation)

* It is required to install the Rakuten Ticket application on a smartphone to make use of the electronic tickets.
* Please acknowledge that the purchase of tickets includes a separate processing fee.
* The sale of tickets may end in case that the fixed number for each type of ticket becomes sold out.
* Changes and refunds after purchase are not possible.
* The events may be suspended due to extremely adverse weather conditions such as typhoons, or depending on the situation of the novel coronavirus pandemic. Refunds would be granted in such cases.
* The number of tickets on sale is limited due to the measures against covid19. However, an additional amount could be put on sale depending on the circumstances.
* Ticket prices are listed as the price of one ticket for one person/day. Those persons who wish to participate on both the 7th and the 8th of August 2021 need to purchase the tickets for two days.

World Cosplay Summit 2021 Rules for participation in the events

The World Cosplay Summit is an event taking place in a public space. Visitors include persons not familiar with cosplay. Please mind about language and conduct that might harm the image of the characters, and be careful not to cause trouble to other visitors and passers-by.
Also, since the event takes place in a public space, there is the possibility to appear in pictures and videos taken by general attendants. Please acknowledge that not everyone present in the venue will have read and agreed with these participation rules. Cosplayers and photographers are expected to participate having previously read and agreed with the following participation rules.
We request your kind cooperation in order to make an enjoyable event for all participants.

About participation as cosplayer and participation as photographer

In case of participating as a cosplayer in the World Cosplay Summit, a “Cosplay participation ticket” or a “Cosplay changing room ticket (including participation ticket)” are required. Please participate in the event purchasing one of these tickets and registering at the reception to have your costume checked and to obtain your proof of participation. Those persons without a proof of participation cannot participate as cosplayers. Please purchase a cosplay participation ticket.

In case of participating in the World Cosplay Summit 2021 as a photographer taking pictures or videos of cosplayers, a “Participation ticket for photographers” is required. Please purchase a participation ticket for photographers.

Photographers at the event venue without a proof of participation will be requested by staff members to purchase a ticket on sale available on the day. Please purchase the ticket in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Measures for the prevention of covid19
  • We kindly request those persons affected by the following circumstances in the 14 days prior to the celebration of the event to abstain from participation.
    - In case of having symptoms of cold or fever (body temperature higher than 37.5 ºC)
    - In case of having been in close contact with persons that have tested positive for covid19
    - In case that there is the suspicion that persons in the same household or close acquaintances are infected
    - In case of having traveled to countries or regions for which the government has imposed entry restrictions or the need for a - quarantine period upon entry, or being in close contact with a resident of such countries or regions
  • An inspection of physical condition including the measurement of body temperature is going to be conducted at the reception. Persons affected by the following circumstances will not be allowed to participate. Please acknowledge that the amount of the already purchased tickets will not be refunded in this case.
    - Having a body temperature above 37.5 degrees
    - Having symptoms of cold such as intermittent cough or a sore throat
    - Having abnormalities in the senses of taste or smell
    - Having an intense fatigue
    - Having a notification of contact with an infected person through the COCOA application for tracking of novel coronavirus contacts
  • Conversations inside the changing rooms are forbidden. Also, consideration is requested to avoid facing other persons while applying make-up. Please cooperate to avoid congestion by limiting your period of stay in the changing rooms to 30 minutes.
  • Cosplayer participants shall wear a mask (as a rule, face shields and mouth shields are not allowed) while moving around and being spectators. Please wear a mask when moving around and engaging in conversation, and take it off only when performing on the stage or when taking photographs. Staff members may request you to put on a mask. Please acknowledge that you may be forced to leave the event in case that you do not follow their indications.
  • Photographer participants shall wear a mask at all times.
  • Please cooperate by downloading the COCOA application for tracking of novel coronavirus contacts, recommended by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
