The World Cosplay Summit supports studying abroad at Nagoya University of the Arts

A separate program is available for international students who wish to enroll at Nagoya University of Arts, allowing them to learn Japanese language

In addition to accepting exchange students from partner schools in the United Kingdom, France, Germany and other countries, we currently have over 100 self-funded students (undergraduate and graduate) enrolled as of June 2023

Nagoya University of Arts has partnerships with 19 schools in Europe, America, and the Asia-Pacific region, promoting active academic and research exchanges.
In relation to our partner schools, we have implemented exchange programs and language training programs, and with the dedicated support of the International Exchange Center, we have built excellent relationships through exchanges centered around art.
Also, the number of self-funded students from non-partner schools has been increasing year by year, indicating a rapid growth in the demand for international exchange at our university.

Gil Erina Saquete, from Spain

The reason I decided to study Japanese was that as a cosplayer, I had a desire to visit Nagoya, where the World Cosplay Summit is held, even when I was in Spain. I also believed that studying in Japan and immersing myself in the Japanese language would allow me to learn more about the culture and language. I am currently working in Nagoya, and my aim is to become so proficient in Japanese that I can watch anime without subtitles and don't need translations for games and manga!
Nagoya is a great place to live with delicious food, and I am happy that there is also an understanding of cosplay (laughs).
This is the Nagoya that I like!

The reason for studying abroad in Japan was because I wanted to expand my knowledge and experience in the creative field and enhance my own skills. I felt that the campus of Nagoya University of the Arts is very spacious and filled with sunlight, making it a comfortable space where it's easy to build positive relationships. I specialize in graphic design, but I had the opportunity to take classes from other courses as well, which allowed me to learn various subjects such as the making of illustrated books, ceramics, lithography and planning. Experiencing education in a different country has broadened my perspective and I truly believe that it has been a significant advantage for me. I consider that it is extremely important to have clear goals before studying abroad, and to approach the experience with a positive mindset.

I initially chose to study in Nagoya because of its prime location nestled between Tokyo and Osaka, with Kyoto just a stone's throw away. However, upon settling in, I found myself captivated by the city's allure. Beyond its convenient transportation and optimal population size—not too crowded yet never too desolate—Nagoya boasts a unique charm. Moreover, the presence of a specialty shop offering Taiwanese noodles seems to foster a particularly warm reception towards Taiwanese residents. Nagoya, without a doubt, is an ideal place to call home.Adding to its appeal, Nagoya hosts the world's largest cosplay event annually, drawing enthusiasts from across the globe and adding to the city's cultural richness. But Nagoya isn't merely a city of convenience and friendliness; it's a vibrant melting pot of cultures. Here, I've not only enjoyed connecting with friends from around the world but have also been immersed in the city's dynamic energy. Whether strolling through bustling streets or partaking in cultural festivities, Nagoya has gifted me with countless surprises and cherished memories. I intend to treasure this invaluable time and embrace life in Nagoya wholeheartedly.
