What is Championship?
The World Cosplay Summit is a competition where cosplayers from around the world showcase their cosplay performances to determine the world's No.1 cosplayer. Teams that have won the official qualifying rounds held by the organizers of each country or region partnering with WCS will advance to the final competition in Nagoya. The cosplay representatives from each country or region may also participate as guests in various pop culture events or be featured in media, making participation in the WCS main event a great opportunity for cosplayers to gain recognition. The cosplay representatives are called "WCS alumni" and many of them continue to be involved with WCS-related events even after their representation.

Explanation of rules
- Costumes are handmade
- The work must be a Japanese manga, anime, video game, or special effects character
- Stage performance judging time is 2 minutes and 30 seconds
- Background screen can be used as a stage direction
- Rank will be determined by the sum of the character and stage performance judging
